Re: 18-25 Christmas
Christmas
When winter breathes it’s icy blast
And penetrates your bones
It’s time to light log fires
To warm your loving homes
Time to trim the Christmas tree
And dress the mantle piece
While singing Christmas carols
And praying for world peace
Time to make best wishes cards
For your family and friends
Hoping that you’ll catch the post
Before the daylight ends
A time for contemplating
Making sure you won’t forget
A gift for Aunty Mabel
And a scarf for Auntie Bet.
And don’t forget the children
Be sure they’re tucked in bed
Leaving cookies and beer for Santa
And for Rudolph, a carrot head
For it’s the Eve of Christmas
And the remembrance of our Lord
The celebration of His birth
The teachings of His word
Spread lots of love and laughter
Among your fellow men
And may all the joy of Christmas
Be with you all………Amen

Christmas
Christmas is for children
A time of joy and cheer
Only trouble with Christmas is
It happens every year
You just get shot of Christmas
Then Easter rears it head
Then you get the run of birthdays
And that fills me full of dread
It’s enough to drive you crazy
You’re forever shelling out
Spending cash you can't afford
Creating a financial drought
You try to save up all year round
To cover all the costs
You think by late September
I's are dotted and T's are crossed
Then someone has a baby
Or they marry some new bloke
Then it buggers up the budget
Having to buy for extra folk
Then you look at all the old folk
Auntie win and uncle Fred
And wonder how much cheaper
It would be if they were dead
But you always seem to manage
Even though it’s really hard
I've promised myself a night off
Soon as I write this final card

Re: 18-25 Christmas
Winter time again.
Put away your summer clothes
Your sandals and your jellies
It’s getting colder by the day
It’s time to grab your wellies.
Time to get the thermals out
The vests and long-johns too
Woolly hats with woolly gloves
To warm you through and through.
Scarves to wind on round your neck
To keep out the wind and rain
Woollen jumpers for your back
Because winter’s here again.
Wind and rain, snow and sleet
Icicles and snowflakes
People sliding on the ice
Like skaters on frozen lakes
Children building snowmen
And having snowball fights
Schools are closing everywhere
‘Cause they’ve all got frozen pipes
You’d think that we’d be ready
Scraping ice from off the car
But typically we’re astounded
By just how ill-prepared we are.

Re: 18-25 Christmas
What I got for Christmas
Got a doll from Grandma
That does everything from burp to sneeze
But cant do anything with it
Cause she forgot the batteries
Got a set of books from Auntie May
Full of nursery rhymes
Got lipstick from Jan and Vick
And some rather nice wind chimes
Got a nice TV from Mum and Dad
With a built in DVD
And a digital box from Mrs Fox
So I get extra channels free
Cause there’s got to be a down side
Cant get everything I like
Santa gave me a scooter
And I asked for a blooming bike
Still I guess I should be grateful
For everything I had
But what do I do with the paper and glue
That I got from dear Aunt Glad

Christmas is a coming........!!!
Christmas is a coming,
my purse is getting thin,
guess I'll grin and bare it,
take it on the chin.
Meanings not the same,
as back in grandma's day,
family was priority,
not,''what am I going to gain ?"
A family rejoicing,
sharing love and thoughts,
fills the home with laughter,
makes you want to sing.
Sharing of one's self,
is what Christmas time should be,
saying silent thankyou's,
to one so high above,
who watches over ALL of us,
tries to show us how to love.
May your Christmas be filled,
with love and joy and food,
with loads of healthy laughter,
nothing bad or rude.
I will think of all our loved ones,
here and overseas, family and friends
who are loved and treasured deep,
hope that they will think of us and
raise a glass or two, saying, MERRY
CHRISTMAS, wish we were there with you !!
Finally our loved ones,
who from this world have parted,
Merry Christmas to all of you,
your forever in our hearts......

Merry Christmas EVERYONE! Peter, Jin . . . creative and wonderful reading - even if Peter is a Scrooge in disguise!
Rich, your piece is ingenious! This must have taken some time and pretty good effort on your part! Wonderful writing!
Susie, bless your heart . . . you've touched upon the real meaning of Christmas. It's not the toys, but the thoughts of the day and of those close to you. Great writing!

............ Away in a manger no crib for a bed,
............the little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head.
............The stars in the sky look down where He lay,
............the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
............“Now Johnny, Suzie and little Jean,
............can you share what the words to this lullaby mean?
............When telling, do try and keep up with the rhyme.
............Now let's begin, mind you, one at a time.”
............“Mom, um, please Mom um can I be the first
............to tell about Jesus um being borned in the worst . . .
............Ooo I mean, the neat-o-est of places on earth?
............In a bed made for ANmals, little Jesus was birthed.”
............“Oh Johnny, well done for a boy five years old!
............What clever and dexterous words to unfold.
............The story of Jesus who laid in the hay
............was perfect and proper in rhyme, I must say!”
............“Good, Mom . . . I like it too!” squealed Johnny.
............Now, seven year old Suzie was thinking real hard.
............She started, stopped and kept them off guard.
............Then finally, she asked them a silly request,
............as if they were there to be given an important test!
............“There's something I've wondered, but never have known:

............'Cause if all them reindeer had gone on that ride,
............Wouldn't Jesus have been born at Santa's side?"
............“Oh MY Suzie,” said Mom, “why did you ask that?
............Jesus wasn't born on a magical mat
............in a sleigh, with Santa and eight reindeer,
............but with parents, in a stable, with angels near.”
............“You tell her, Mom! That was just dumb.”
............said Johnny, chomping hard on his grape bubble gum.
............He laughed, then held his head up real high
............and let go the silliest of silly sighs.
............“Suzie's just confused Johnny, like many are
............who forget about Wise men who followed a star.
............They forget all the reasons this season is for;
............it's not about Santa, but the Babe who was born.”
............Well then little Jean was eager and wanted to speak,
............her face was aglow with her rosy red cheeks.
............She stepped just in front of her brother and smiled
............then spoke with the depth of a four year old child.
............“In a phew-EE old manger, not in a real bed,
............little Jesus waid down His widdle head.
............Twinkle wittle stars see'd Him sleepin' on the floor
............and yelled, 'JESUStime is Christmas, you big silly - Santa's folklore . . .. ' ”

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM MY FIGERS TIPS
I found 3 Christmas poems that I have written in years past, though I don't know which one to post so I'll post all three if it's alright with thee (just had to make it rhyme you know).
I know I'm days late getting here, or maybe even months, it's been so long.
I do want to wish each of you the Merriest and Happiest of Christmas, my your joys be long lasting and love in your hearts be forever till the end of time.
May your time with family and friends be nothing but fun, may laughter and s that the day singing be the only sounds heard, for this is the day like all other be a day of sharing the love you have in your hearts.
So spread the Christmas cheer put away the booze and alcohol because they are no use, sorry people no one drinks here at my house, just an Eggnog or two, so lift your glass of Eggnog not only to each other but for the troops far across the seas remember them on this Christmas day.
No this isn't one of my three poems, it's just one that my fingers wants to type, so I'll let them do the walking on my key pad, for when their poem is done, I'll post three of my own so from my fingers to you Merry Christmas to one and all.

GRANDMA'S POPCORN BALL
To smell once more popcron poping on the stove,
The rich buttery smell that just makes your mouth water for more.
On the counter in a little brown bottles of different colors, whatis she going to do with them ?
She gets out a bottle of light corn syprup,
A speical treat for us to eat on Christmas day.
To taste one more time the many colors of Grandma's popcorn balls.
