The Seed Picker
A seed is picked and off it flies, nearly a week goes by
Then off to an island that is unknown the seed is dropped and left to grow.
Years pass and the colours get changed, bees and the like going from one to another,
Not in a hurry just now as you please, but colours get changed and they grow far and wide.
One day a ship does arrive, they look at the plants and think they have seen them before,
But not in this colour and not in this form,
So off they go with the plants now in pots, new hybrids they have and the ship it has lots.
Back to the main land back to the yield, this one with that one is the very best deal.
A seed is taken and put into the soil in a few years’ time anew name will be found
All because a bird flew over water and dropped a seed into fertile new ground.
All over the world new plants are being formed,
Because of the birds that carry the seeds, further than we can see and much further than we go,
But they are bought back so that new species are found
Back to where the first seed was found
But now with a new name and new soil to put in
Years ago, it was a bird seed and now a hybrid that is new
Another plant for the garden and another plant for you.
