Happy 60th Dear Sue
Happy sixtieth birthday, a time to celebrate, with family,
some memories, a few drinks and a birthday cake ? !
It so doesn't seem possible, that your in the sixty club
it only seemed a few years ago, that we met in the Brittania Pub !
Our friendship struck a beautiful chord, as we travelled similar paths,
we were both becoming young mothers, looking forward to sharing that road !
Outside of being parents, some fun times we did have
like riding luggage trollies on Dovers seafront land !
Once on a trip to the movies, you and I and a gooseberry named Ken,
sat watching Kramer v Kramer, cried our tears and left just passed ten !
Our children we had the most fun with, watching and sharing each stage
capturing with cameras, joy, tears and heartache, neither of us feeling our age.
One occasion you played a big part in, was being God mum to our son
there was no other person we would ask, as he loves you like a second mum.
Our Friendship, as strong as it was, went through a testing time,
as with love, you gave us a clock and with my family I flew out to Aus !
We wrote and exchanged family news, shared excitement of buying new homes
Then a chance came to see you again, so with your children to Aus you were flown!
With you here, Ken and I renewed vows, of which you played such a special part,
such a sentimental beautiful day, having you with us, stays deep in my heart.
Sad tears when you returned to England, yet happy with memories we held
my letters were poor in responding, to the novels you beautifully penned !
Some distance occurred in that period, until one day I became a Grandma
I sat down and wrote you a novel, of how much our lives had changed !
Our daughter was then getting married, a dream that I wanted to share,
somehow you made that dream happen, her wedding day, with us you did share.
So another chapter in our lives, you witnessed and shared with us,
but returning home to your loved ones, you found your family would increase !
So we had our first grandson, Lucas, you had yours in cute little Thomas,
as young mums we had grown together, as Grandmas more memories to last ?
Sadness has touched both our lives, and letters sadly gone by the wayside
a bad letter writer I became, yet inside me our friendship felt the same.
More grandchildren we have both had, and we have watched our families grow
you over there, me over here, tell me Sue where has the time gone ?
So on this your sixtieth birthday, have the time of your life and enjoy
have a drink or sixty to celebrate, please know, I wish I was there
Happy Birthday beautiful lady you'll always be a part of me
this very bad letter writer is writing a novel to send over seas !!!
