"WHO Said BOO?"
A Halloween Prompt

A long time ago, someone thought it would be cool to have a special night where little ghosts and goblins could run from door to door begging treats or tricks . . .

Around a dark corner a might lurk
a black might cross your path
a might swoop down beside your feet

or a might conjure her wrath!
On every step creaking, sit -
their eyes search for ghoulies of night,
and eager children dressed up for the eve
will gobble their with affraid

Halloween

Halloween is coming
Better start thinking on my feet
It’s getting harder every year
To avoid the Trick or Treat

It’s not that I don’t like kids
Or the fun that it must bring
But when I’m watching TV
I don’t want the bell to ring

So I take out all the batteries
And I turn out every light
Then they will think I’ve gone out
Or retired for the night

I cant be doing with all the hubbub
I get that at work all day
When I get home I want to rest
I just wish they’d go away

I know it’s only once a year
And I shouldn’t be a grouch
But they’d better not bloody knock
While I’m prostrate on my couch

My ghost

We've had it now for ages
It runs around during the night
Thinking it owns the place
Trying to create a fright

It keeps moving furniture
And hiding all my things
Waits till I'm sitting down
Then flicks my bum with the springs

It thought it would catch me out
And hid in the back of my car
But I started it up and it flew out
Cause it mustn't go too far

We had some visitors a while back
They only stopped a day
It didn't leave them alone all night
So they packed and went away

We learnt to live together
We get on better than most
I let it thinks it scares me
Our friendly live in ghost

Exorcist Required

Searching through the want adds
I saw “Exorcist required
It happens every blooming year
And I’m getting really tired

Every damned Halloween
It leaves me pretty pail
It starts off with the banging doors
Then the beggar starts to wail

They say it’s just the local kids
But I know better than that
This one you can see right through
And doesn’t have a pointy hat

So I’m looking for an Exorcist
And I need one pretty quick
If it eats any more candy
I know it will be sick”

Trick or Treat

Bats in the roof space
Black cat on the stoop
Better have a bag of candy
Or I’ll get a bag of poop

Flower bombs and water
Shaving foam under the door
Got to keep the children sweet
That’s what the candy’s for

It only happens once a year
You can picture the scene
Kids dressed as ghosts and goblins
On the night of Halloween

Dressed up looking scary
From their heads down to their feet
Knocking on the neighbours doors
Shouting Trick or Treat

So make sure you are stocked up
Or be ready for a fight
Either way the kids are out
On this All Hallows Night

Tapping in The Dark

On All Hallows Eve
I moved next to a graveyard
People said that I was mad
Surly it cant be that hard

Then some time just past midnight
I could hear a kind’a tapping
It took me kind’a by surprise
As I was up stairs napping

It was coming from the graveyard
So I went to investigate
Walking out in the dark
I must have looked a state

Then I saw a man kneeling
Chiselling on a stone
So I asked why are you here
In the dark all alone

He looked up at me saying
“ it really is a shame
they got the date and the age
but the buggers miss spelt my name”

After this one

Being Underground

It’s dark and it’s cold
And you cant hear a sound
It smells and it’s boring
Being underground

They put me here in April
Then they went away
I guess they will come back
Some cold and rainy day

I could put out some feelers
See just how things sound
Spread my arms and legs
And have a look around

Eventually when I grow up
I may get picked if I’m lucky
As long as it doesn’t rain a lot
And I can keep from getting mucky

They reckon I’ll turn orange
And wont always be green
I guess there are some good sides
To being a pumpkin at Halloween

As Bev said "There are MILLIONS of ideas and angles" Don't just look for the obvious, look past the obvious.
Don't just look at the house, look at the building blocks tiles (shingles) Doors and windows

I like this I could write hundreds of poems based on this subject.

Example; Don't be the little boy with a white sheet over his head, be the sheet.
Don't be the child with a bag of sweets, be a sweet.

Don't be an Owl in a tree, be the tree.
Be a witches broom, cat, or hat.

Think laterally the computations are endless.
