Uncle worked for the council

Uncle worked for the council
And did his job with pride
Mending roads and paths
He would work far and wide

Bus Shelters he would build
He liked to leave his mark
And sometimes in the Summer
He got to work in the park

He always liked his Holiday
He would travel many a mile
And sitting on a sunny beach
Always raised a smile

But after a trip to New Zealand
He was really at a loss
So as soon as he got back to work
He went to see his boss

After a long discussion
His boss had to agree
And sent him back to New Zealand
Back to the rolling sea

I asked him some years later
What did you do Uncle Pete
He said the holiday was wonderful
I just couldn’t find a seat

The picture really is in New Zealand. It was taken by a friend of mine.
The thing is the bench, although being there, may not have always been there.

The same thing with the trees sand mountains sea grass, (ect)
How did they get there what was there before them. Was there someone or something in the water?

I think you can see what I am getting at.

The Sea

I saw the sea
The sea saw me
If the sea saw you
Then your by the sea
You see

Upon the sea
Were ships I saw
A sailing you see
I wonder if they saw me
Let's see if you see
These ships upon the sea
Now if you saw the sea
It will be in you see
If there was no sea
You saw, then out
The sea would be
That's the tide
Do you see

This seat you see
Is by the sea
I saw the seat
Along the shore
So do you see
What I saw
When by the seashore
So if you see the sea
Then the sea will see thee
All along seaside shore
I am sure the sea would
Love to see you sitting
By the seas side
I like the sea
That's seeing me
Cos its a sign for me
To shift you see
The sea you see
Comes in on me
So on the toes
I am seen to be
To the shore
Before the sea takes me
You'll see.

Look at the sky and ask just why?
That in the clouds my hand is held high
My pointing finger in cloud is right,
but would not end up in the night.
The sea rolls by as it has for years,
do you think the finger steers?
Then the mountains in distance see,
they are there for you and me.
Walk upon the water or sit upon the shore,
sit upon the bench and think of youth for just once more.
Then pass on to another beach and home
somewhere that we have not roamed.
somewhere that we have to go before the time of endless sand covers up our time on earth,
and someone celebrates another birth.
for us the years and days have gone,
the years like mountains rolled along
the sea and waves come crashing in
But this is end not just begin.
now see the finger cloud moving by,and let them remember us as we wave goodbye.

Here is another one for you..

A time so far away

A man stood on a beach
Feeling lucky to be free
Lucky still to be alive
Looking out to sea

Thinking back almost fifty years
To a time so far away
When so many men gave their lives
That he should be there today

Back to a war he didn’t want
To a life he didn’t choose
Wondering how long he would last
If the battle they did lose

Now standing looking out to sea
Thoughts rolling round his head
Remembering so many of his friends
Sadly now all dead

A tear rolling down his cheek
With an uncontrollable frown
Looking out past the golden beach
To the place his ship went down

beverly looked at the picture and beverly thought of a word
but just as beverly went to write she heard the chirping of a bird
she looked out of the window and saw the bird in flight
and then she thought of the sand and the beach
and what pee wee had said she should do
she thought of the seat and of you
now two words had formed oh so nicely and she wrote them down on her pc
fred and peter had written 50 lines but beverly thought of her tea.
now she was thinking out of the box
twinings had opened and out things had popped
one tea bag for her and one for her man
well pee wee you did say look out of the box
so now beverly is sitting and comtemplating her life
every one else submits to the verse
beverly sits and her whole world transverse
tea and a cup in a delicate hand
sitting on down onto yellow coloured sand
looking out at clouds and seeing waves going by
third word is in her mind as the paper arrives
so now she is thinking i do havea line
I wonder if they will read all these words trhat do ryme
ah another bird now looks at the sea
but beverly is looking now far out to see
just looking at supper and her nice cup of tea
i will think of you bev if you think of me
Oh my coffee is finsihed ...is your cup of tea

I'm thinking as I eat my shredded wheat!

You two know me very well. Been by my side for 4 years now and watched me stumble just this side of the subject. Sometimes, I realize I'm too much of a realist. If you show me a loaf of bread and tell me to write about the Berlin Wall, I will go play in my garden and buff my shoes:-)

there is a loaf of bread i have
that is built like the berlin wall
its huge and hard and needs to fall
so now i am off into the garden and will play some
american ball
and then I will take off my top things
and take the scuff marks out of my shoes by the pool
i may just swim in the water
I may sunbathe or not do it at all
but if they write another poem about me I will laugh all the way to school

On a beach she rested alone,
remembering the life she'd once known.
Never feeling pain this unthinkably deep -
bothered that breath wanders and weeps
with pity as thick as an ocean's wave.

A tree bends,
its swaying branches comprehend -
it visions more than this grieving tryst
and knows the drowning of salty mist
as tears intoned with missed existence.

And the ocean, a heralding beacon calls!
She gathered skirts arranged in tightening pall
while the sand and sea together swell
and took the tree in her stead - it's life her pain to quell.

Those two dern UKan's can pull a poem right outta their fingertips. It took me over an hour to write that thing:-) I'm very analytical, and STILL don't think it's right. Might just rip it a new ending . . . Going to the house, be back later:-)

I lay upon this blank canvas of sand and sea
I look hard and deep to view what is within me
My smile has faded there is no joy
all because my heart was broke by that boy
My tears wipe my make up away like waves on the sand
looking in a lost kind of way and my empty hand
Trying to remember the days we spent in places like this
trying to stop the pain of remembering our first kiss
As I sit and stare at the untamed sea
I wish with my heart you could have loved me
I know in my heart it could never be
because I am just as untamed as this sea
