First topic message reminder :
It's time to think outside the box
Look at the picture below, think of a poem BUT THEN STOP Think outside the box.

Re: Put your Thinking Caps On
Lost By The Sea
Sitting on this bench by the sea
I watch the rolling sea roll in
Upon the beach I see, sun dwellers
They lay upon these sands by the sea?
The sun shines bright so that I might
Walk amongst these dwellers so bright.
I walk so lightly upon the sand towards
To this sea so blue and clear
Children play upon the sand
Building castles with bucket and spade
Swimmers swim in the midday sea
I watch with much dismay
Wandering along the beach I do
Kick sand that does not move
The sounds of happy people I hear
The joy that they can endear.
Further along the beach I walk
To see the trees upon the hill
A path that leads away from here
Up a hill and far away
I take that path to far away
And find a place that so silent
Buildings of white and clean
Stand proud and so it seems
Along the cliff path I walk, the sea
I can but hear so clearly
As I approach this place quite near
An earthly silence does reach my ear
Further, I walk and in the distance,
I see my loving family standing so proud
As I move closer I see my Mother and Father,
They're standing looking down to the ground.
Oh Mother and Father what has happened to thee
Your faces appear old I see, tears are in your eyes
I reach out for a hug from my Mother dear
but air is all that reaches me
I look to the ground and see, a white cross stands erect
Below the ground a box inside the box I see
An outline of me, for my spirit is out of the box looking in
For I fought for freedom so those to live in
I am but a Soldier of Normandy and I am in the
American St. Laurent Cemetery

Re: 10/15 Thinking Caps On
lovely replies everyone wonder what the next one will be he pulled a rabbit from his hat
and then he quickly put it back
for he saw Dori coming quick
he did not want the ears to prick
the rabbit lay in side the hat
and that as they say here ..is that

Thank you Rich for helping to remind us of the great contribution our our forefathers. War is a terrible thing, but it is a fact of life in an imperfect world. Let's pray that one day man will no longer feel the need to bare arms against his neighbour . . .
Good writing Rich! :cvnsrih:

Well Freddie my boy, it's in the hands
of Dori Meow, she has it planned;
a prompt of ghouls and goblins of night
she aims to inspire and cast a freight!
On with your cap slapped really tight . . .
for the very next prompt is close in sight.

the rabbit man
did you pull that rabbit from your hat
or did you take the dove from your sleeve?
is it you who is the magician, or did he leave?
why did my daddy leave he used to play so many tricks
take us to the pool and make lollies to lick,
but now my mummy has a new man to stay
no more rabbits from any hats
he is older and he doesnt like me
and I hate him back.
I just want my rabbit man back
or did you take the dove from your sleeve?
is it you who is the magician, or did he leave?
why did my daddy leave he used to play so many tricks
take us to the pool and make lollies to lick,
but now my mummy has a new man to stay

Cheryl, yes it is appropriate! Thanks for sharing it here too.
Fred . . . wow. Not sure how it ties in, but it's really good 'n sad writing to make one think.
