In my yard, I stood and listened
To the murder of crows and the breeze
As they gathered and touched the trees,
And saw did I mother nature dance.
I observed clouds drifting slowly
And pondered where were they going,
While ruffled were the leaves by the gust,
Which gave unto my soul a rush.
There where I stood, my world seemed complete,
Filled with vigor and somewhat unique.
In my back yard, thoughts sprung forth
'Bout my youth and what it was to be poor.
Yet, saddened was I not
Toward the things I had not got.
Instead, were flushing through my mind
Remembrances of rainbows ,
The beauty of lightning striking,
And racing to the pond to sit on a fallen log.
I can still hear my friends laughing
As we wrestled in a leaf filled hole.
The cowboys and Indians made by pretense,
Today in my thoughts kindly stir.
As a poet, such was a youth
Filled with nature and happiness.

A bizillion grains of chrystal coloured sands
sifting slowly yet softly between the fingers of my hand.
As the waves wash in and the waves wash out...

The wonderous waves of the ocean, so vast
rushing ebbs, ever nearing until laps trickle past.
As the waves wash in and the waves wash out...

The magic wet beach show where footprints have been
'till a wash of a wave says they were only a dream.
As the waves wash in and the waves wash out....

The blackheaded gull on the lookout above
never detered by the beckoning sea, playing rough.
As the waves wash in and the waves wash out...

All the crabs clamber rocks, clinging barnicles hide
held on with such strength as they ride with the tide.
As the waves wash in and the waves wash out...

The sun beats down with glinting rays to warm
And me, I sit, with my life thoughts to transform.
Still the waves wash in and the waves wash out..

Dear Jin…..

My Dearest Jin, where to begin?
I write to you in poetry verse
To warn you, take heed
Be aware of your greed
Be mindful of stretching your girth.

In this parallel world, I sit in regret
So I warn you young Jin, do it right
No binging, no snacking
For the pounds will be stacking
And it’ll happen so quick, overnight!

Alas and alack…there is no turning back!
Once you’ve fallen in love with your grub
There’s no easy solution
To reverse this pollution
There’s no magic lamp you can rub!

Oh Dearest Jin, if you want to stay thin
Do not stray from the good to the bad
Eat what is good
Like you know that you should
Don’t succumb to the many food fads

I beg and implore, you must exercise more
Make your workout more fun if you will
Don’t end up being fat
You’re much too good for all that
Don’t end your days being old, fat and ill.

Ooh...I do love these poems so full of life and well being. Memories of life's past events must look forward towards the future.
Love your words Teresa so much thought out. A far distant memory no doubt.
Lucie what can I say you have a knack at bring words together and touching the souls of people.
Jin, there are no words that can say how you write you do it beautifully.

Fly High

Up to the sky I do but fly
A rush of wonder does
Flow through my heart
Long distance I travel on
A vast and distant sky.

Up among these clouds
Which touch me so…..
Does make my head
Feel cold and wet
Do not rain upon me yet.

How free I feel to be up here
Amongst these clouds of white
I break from a cloud to sight
The green of the land below
The blue of the sky above

Onward I do but fly
Through my beloved sky
How far will I go today
No distance is great for me
As I fly my life away.

Up here I feel alone where
A piece of Heaven is above
Closer to my maker I am
But sure is not to far
Let me fly for evermore

I flap my wings to glide
And float upon a wind
With grace I do but ride
To find my dreams to fly

I am but only a bird
Born to fly born free
To see from the sky
How this earth dies
In its pollution by man

So fly away I must go
And into the sunset I go
To find a peaceful home
For me and my new life
Which is within me.

well weren't your thoughts soaring! I like it and am reminded of the many dreams I have of flight...bringing both feelings of exile-ration and fearfulness..
(am scared of heights..)

I felt like that once scared of heights Lucie. When I was younger I used to do Rock climbing, hanging onto a rock face with fingers and feet and sometimes attached to a rope. Unless you were the leader than you'll have to make your own belay points, so if you fell you wouldn't fall past the chap who was holding the rope.....!!! I had no fear of heights then..
But when I stood on the balcony of a tall building it used to send shivers through my spine, funny that never could understand why?

All these poems were beautiful and heart felt. I enjoyed reading them. i often come here and just read with amazement. The wonder of emotion flows deep through our core and leaves us humbled.

so true Teresa, so true... eveyday I read here , all the new and repeat many the favourites to lift my soul, tis then I can begin my day and know that if the day wasn't all that, i can return to share thoughts with friends.
