When I look at the picture below, there are many words that come to my mind. I suppose there are more than a few ways to describe the photo. Would you care to try your hand at a poem based on what YOU see?

A Bridge Too Far



Now I’m not the greatest climber
I’m just not that good on heights
I even get a nose bleed
When pulling up my tights

So confronted by a rope bridge
High up in the trees
Started me a shaking
Right down to my knees

They said that it was safe
There was no need for tears
It was the third one they had built
And its lasted ninety years

Well I hadn’t got a lot of choice
It was cross or walk for miles
So I put a brave face on it
Face filled with fearful smiles

Then half way across
Think I’m doing pretty good
I find a blooming gap
Where there aught to be some wood

Well that was just the limit
I froze I couldn’t move
And no amount of encouragement
Would help the matter improve

I turned round and walked back
Pleased to stand on solid ground
I don’t care how long it takes
I’m bloody walking round

Now when I first saw this photo, I said to myself, "Now that's just a Bridge too far!"...... and Peter, like a true pro, you got there first with a poem that I know I cannot match..So well done my fellow!..Well done!!

This picture started pretty
With it's branch in budding leaf
But as I scrolled on further
I was stunned in disbelief!
This bridge goes on forever
But my eyes don't want to see
I cannot stand here looking
There is a morbid fear in me!
My stomache is getting queezy
My legs, they feel like lead
I have no head for heights you see
I'm filled with awful dread
Courage....I am lacking
And my heart..it beats too fast
I'm glad it's just a picture
So the dizziness wont last!!

A lot of people I knew
Tried to cross long bridges
Sofia's masterpiece story
Ended among her princes
They wished her to describe the picture
But she forgot her eyes
Upon the bridges' fences
A rhyme made of life
Attacked her burned senses
I adored Sofia
But the trees imposed her tenses

Sami stepped looking at his feet
Imagining a wonderful meet
But his crowded memory
Screamed with endless sad voice
Telling the shaggy funeral seat
With nothing written on the sheet
He stopped in the middle
Suffering from his head heat
Still there now
With his miserable beat

Or to have an honest guide
Some of them saw their way
But the others lost their ride
