I'm sick of always clearing up
the dust and dirt 'round here,
Cement gets trodden on the floor
and the dog's are moulting hair!
As soon as tops are wiped all clean
it settles once again,
There's dust and debris everywhere
and it's driving me insane!
My plants have got a coat on
and my food is full of grit,
There are paint-pots in my kitchen
and my hallway's full of it!
There's hammers, drills, and other bits
all scattered on the floor,
And every day I stub my toe
on the junk left by the door!
My nostrils are sucking up the dust
there's a damp smell in the air,
And though I disinfect it all
the stench still lingers there!
My hoover's clogged up well and good
my broom has lost it's brush,
My dust-pan's got a crack in it
which makes me swear and cuss!
Yes, I've cleaned this house from top to toe
but I feel it's been in vain,
For every time it's polished up
the dirt is there again!
Take my advice, unhappy wives
next time you want a job done,
Just leave the old man laying down
'Cos now you know the outcome!
You'll regret the day you nagged him
as I have often found,
'Cos every time he does a job
he leaves a mess around.
Now, husbands don't like clearing up
they leave it for the wife,
And should you dare complain of it
they only say......."That's life!"
