Another Valentine’s Day Empty Another Valentine’s Day

If ever that I were happy, my Love,
It would be right here, now and everyday
since our first Valentine’s date.
Happy and content as the cooing dove,

My heart beats more soundly, as if buoyed
By the wonderment of your smiling eyes –
Brown, a heritage of the British Isles –
And when you smile, my heart is overjoyed.

Love, as the heart, is the cradle of Life,
And my heart could populate a nation
For my love of you. Cupid’s affection
Compels me to ask, “Oh, Wanda, my wife,

[I hold your hand] Please be my Valentine.”
And we move to kiss, your eyes watching mine.
