When we first bought Cindy Rd., the french doors off the Ponderosa room were held shut by a wood and faux verdigris kitchen stand sort of thing. This furniture had definitely seen better days. It had been left out in the weather, it's butcher block table top was moldy and just yuck. But of course, I loved it and wouldn't let poppy throw it to the curb. We used it as a stand for the micro and coffee pot for awhile. Turns out the coffee pot leaked, for when I moved it, there was staining underneath.

I bleached the wood, belt sanded, finish sanded . . . try as I might, I couldn't get the line of demarcation from the coffee stain to come completely out. But hey, I like things with character, lol.

Below is my work in progress. I've applied two coats of walnut stain.

As for the faux verdigris, I'm fauxing it into a natural weathered look:-) This part is very time consuming, but I'm a stickler for detail . . .

I apply the stain heavy, wait a few moments:

When I'm done playing, all of it will get several light coats of satin poly. I'll share it when I've finished.
