Perfect Autumn Day

Sitting on the banks of the Murray
on a beautiful Autumn day
found the peace and tranquility
as inside my head words play

The rippling of the water
the swaying of the trees
the swooping of the swallows
as they chase the last of the bees

The early morning mist,
has left its calling card
as the moisture on overnight cobwebs
drips slow on the willows fasard

The moisture needed years ago
when willow was quite young
when heavy summer droughts
tried to halt life before it begun

Willow weeps majestically
in moisturing morning mist
even though her limbs are bent
and some have gone adrift

A twisted wooden beauty
full of character and charm
that shelters riverside wildlife
from cruelty and harm

I love the early mornings
the Murray and the mist
the willows with her familys
from possums to birds in nests

An hour or two a day
take from daily life
sit by the river somewhere
and appriciate your life .
