Allusive Fellow

It is the enjoyment of delicious little moments like now
That most fill me with a warming, welcome desire to live.
A thoughtful writer of poetry, and an allusive fellow,

I strive with ideas and images, to write them, somehow
To know the beauty and joy, not just the horrors of Life,
And the enjoyment of delicious little moments like now,

Moments such as these, when poet and muse say, “Hello,”
And sit and talk. But then when she finally leaves, I cry,
A thoughtful writer of poetry, and an allusive fellow,

Writing for a forgiving perspective of my life. I frown.
What would bring me to be so eager as to try to forgive?
It is the enjoyment of delicious little moments like now.

Smiles come rarely to a worried face, and painfully slow
They trace but seldom reveal the mind behind the eye,
A thoughtful writer of poetry, and an elusive fellow.

Mornings spent writing poetic efforts, and study to know,
To understand, to write of the view from my sanctuary,
It is the enjoyment of delicious little moments like now,
To be a thoughtful writer of poetry, an allusive fellow.
