A Glimpse Into A Poet’s Heart

Who that reads a poet’s work knows of its inner structure
Or more than something of the rhythm of rhyme and meter?

And what when the poet chooses to write from a palette
Of colorful turns, twists of thought not easy to forget,

Do we read seeking truth and personal validation,
Or to be more well versed in liberal education?

No poem may choose its own form or the words it will use
To avoid the indecencies that demean and abuse

Language, the living blood and breath of communication,
A bastard child to many of us, but cherished by some.

Words, the linear little building blocks of thought, and more,
Meaning of what is yet to come and what has come before.

Sounds signified by symbols are infused with each word, art
Flows with the rhythms of nature and of my beating heart.
