26-27 NEW YEARS
OK so for this prompt, you can write about you're favorite New Years day, Family tradition, what have you.
EXAMPLE
THE NEW YEAR
The New Year is coming to a close as the days goes by,
What will the New Year hold for us what does it hide?
Is there something for us, a change in our lives something to share?
Could there be someone for us to love and to hold dear?
Could our poems and stories make a book and sit on a shelf at a store?
What could the New Year hold for us is there something for us to look forward to?

MY LAST POEM
The best thing that happened to me in Two Thousand-Eleven was meeting you all,
You have shown me how to open up and let my feelings out.
By reading your poems I have gotten to know you the dear friends that you are,
this is not saying good-bye nor so long
this is saying good-bye to an old year and hello to the new.
So as we in our homes or wherever we maybe with friends,
remember the times we w had and will continue to have.
Remember the joy w shared the laughter and the tears,
this will be my very last poem that I write I will be writing in Two Thousand-Eleven till we meet again in Two Thousand-Twelve.

Re: 26-27 NEW YEARS
Well Dori, I totally can't get my NEW YEARS hat on, lol! I thought I'd look for some New Years poems others have written. Here's a really cute kid's poem by Kenn Nesbitt
Hooray! Hooray! It's New Year's Day
Hooray! Hooray! It's New Year's Day!
The day we start anew.
So this year I’ve decided
To become a kangaroo!
Or maybe I will learn to fly,
Or how to walk through walls,
Or how to turn invisible,
Or surf on waterfalls.
I'll make myself elastic
And I’ll teach myself to shrink.
I'll turn into a liquid
And I’ll pour me down the sink.
I'll visit other planets
And meet aliens galore.
I'll travel to the distant past
And ride a dinosaur.
I've got so many wondrous plans.
I'm starting right away.
Yes, this will be the best year yet.
Hooray! It's New Year’s Day!
Or this by Emily Dickinson . . .
One Year ago—jots what?
One Year ago—jots what?
God—spell the word! I—can't—
Was't Grace? Not that—
Was't Glory? That—will do—
Spell slower—Glory—
Such Anniversary shall be—
Sometimes—not often—in Eternity—
When farther Parted, than the Common Woe—
Look—feed upon each other's faces—so—
In doubtful meal, if it be possible
Their Banquet's true—
I tasted—careless—then—
I did not know the Wine
Came once a World—Did you?
Oh, had you told me so—
This Thirst would blister—easier—now—
You said it hurt you—most—
Mine—was an Acorn's Breast—
And could not know how fondness grew
In Shaggier Vest—
Perhaps—I couldn't—
But, had you looked in—
A Giant—eye to eye with you, had been—
No Acorn—then—
So—Twelve months ago—
We breathed—
Then dropped the Air—
Which bore it best?
Was this—the patientest—
Because it was a Child, you know—
And could not value—Air?
If to be "Elder"—mean most pain—
I'm old enough, today, I'm certain—then—
As old as thee—how soon?
One—Birthday more—or Ten?
Let me—choose!
Ah, Sir, None!
Love this by Helen Hunt Jackson!
New Year's Morning
Only a night from old to new!
Only a night, and so much wrought!
The Old Year's heart all weary grew,
But said: "The New Year rest has brought
The Old Year's hopes its heart laid down,
As in a grave; but trusting, said:
"The blossoms of the New Year's crown
Bloom from the ashes of the dead."
The Old Year's heart was full of greed;
With selfishness it longed and ached,
And cried: "I have not half I need.
My thirst is bitter and unslaked.
But to the New Year's generous hand
All gifts in plenty shall return;
True love it shall understand;
By all my failures it shall learn.
I have been reckless; it shall be
Quiet and calm and pure of life.
I was a slave; it shall go free,
And find sweet pace where I leave strife."
Only a night from old to new!
Never a night such changes brought.
The Old Year had its work to do;
No New Year miracles are wrought.
Always a night from old to new!
Night and the healing balm of sleep!
Each morn is New Year's morn come true,
Morn of a festival to keep.
All nights are sacred nights to make
Confession and resolve and prayer;
All days are sacred days to wake
New gladness in the sunny air.
Only a night from old to new;
Only a sleep from night to morn.
The new is but the old come true;
Each sunrise sees a new year born.
I guess everyone is as stumped as me, but there are plenty of New Year poems written for us to read:-)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Re: 26-27 NEW YEARS
Thanks Bev for posting great New Year poems......I guess so ! lol
NEW YEAR, NEW POEM
As we start the count down to two thousand-twelve we gather around,
to hear the joyious sounds of music and laughter.
Looking forward to a change in my life,
someone who is a better person within.
I am looking forward to a new year with a new life,
Dick Clark is finely looking and sounding old.
Which is really hard to believe,
The ball is dropping and the people are counting.
This is the time we say good-bye to two thousand-eleven,
and hello to two thousand-twelve.
Happy New Year Everyone !

New Years 2012
New Years Night
A long year's journey meets
The passing of time.
In remembrance of goodness
And things running
Through our minds.
God's mercy has been tender
Through such hard times.
Each year we gain friendships and
Family ties.
It's amazing to watch God's
Miracles form right before our eyes.
Reminiscing of things that have
Past and are to become as we
Gather together to have some fun.
We sing and dance along
To the rhythm of time
Before the clock strikes
Midnight and another year has chimed!
