As poets, we know the time, energy, and forethought that goes into writing our 'next best' poem. If we think about reaching into the core of our artistic selves, we have a message that drives the way we write. It's sort of self-mantra that influences our thoughts, and ultimately, our work as poets.
Many look to the great poets of the past and present generations for insightfulness. Ralph Waldo Emerson one said, “A great man is always willing to be little.” And poet Leonard Cohen says, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
