10/8 The Time of Autumn
harvest MOON Falling leavescolor PUMPKINS O c t o b e r bonfires
. . . AUTUMN'S feel is upon us!
Autumn Movement by Carl Sandburg
I CRIED over beautiful things knowing no beautiful thing lasts.
The field of cornflower yellow is a scarf at the neck of the copper sunburned woman,
the mother of the year, the taker of seeds.
The northwest wind comes and the yellow is torn full of holes,
new beautiful things come in the first spit of snow on the northwest wind,
and the old things go, not one lasts.
Now YOU write a GREAT Autumn poem. Please click REPLY at the bottom of this topic to add your poem.

Autumn Leaves
My little girl said to me
“Where are all the leaves going”
I said to her winter is coming
And soon it could be snowing
I said this is called autumn
The leaves are dry and deep
Summer is all but over
And the trees are going to sleep
She asked me why it happens
That the branches look so clear
I said that this is normal
It happens every year
In spring the buds start bursting
In summer everything is green
In autumn the leaves disappear
Ready for winters frosty scene
So next time you look out the window
And you see the leaves are falling
Don’t worry its only autumn
Winter will soon be calling

The Day the Leaves Began to Fall
.................................The Day the Leaves Began to Fall
...................
..................................It was the day when leaves began to fall,
...............................when colors dripped from languid trees
............................and everyone knew what will be.
...........................But before winter, the leaves would fall.
.........................It was raining, and a nip setting in.
........................I felt the energy of autumn's dying days,
........................I knew that blanketed riff of forested ways -
.........................the brilliant muted colors setting in,
..........................and where I stepped, indents in leaves I left.
...........................Soon, all the trees I saw would be bleak,
.............................comfort of my home time I would seek
................................and I'd recall the day the leaves began to fall.
....

Color in Motion
Thank you Pete. My FAVORITE time of the seasons!
an acrostic poem . . .
Airborne colors dawdling down,
under trees they're an orange gown.
Twirling it's hem in bursts of pungent gusts,
up and away the turning leaves thrust.
Motion in fall's prime -
no one forgets our Autumn-time.

This Autumn
This Autumn
Standing by this gate
I see, the early rising
Of an Autumn Sun.
The morning mist
Hangs lightly in the air
Distance horses do breath
I do declare, this crisp and clear air.
The greens of summer
Have faded and gone
Replaced by Golden,
Fawn and Brown.
Those lovely colours
Now born do fade.
Dying leaves
Upon the trees
Tremble in the breeze
Falling lightly to the ground
Do enrich the soil
On our glorious Earth.
Summers familiar songs
Of the birds are gone
Above me fly the migrating birds
They wait for a leader
To point the way.
Once found they do
But form an arrow
To point the way.
As the sun rises high
Burns off this mist
And the morning dew
To give us this
A glorious sight
Of Autumn
In full bloom.

Beginning or End
Autumn leaves

_________________soundlessly to the ground.
Some land on the water and quickly become caught up in the current only to be deposited somewhere down stream.
There are those that see this process of changing seasons as an end;
others see it as a promise of a new beginning to come in the spring.

Autumn
Autumn leaves Autumn breeze
sent to test sent to tease
colours bright colours brown
Autumn tends to bring some down
Me I love the Autumn time
its cool its warm its natures prime
harvest time bonfire time
feathering nests for winter time
Leaves and twigs along the ground
while they're dry make a lovely sound
crunch under foot scrunch in your hand
orange red and yellow leaves scattered overland
Some trees so bare with Autumn stare
while others stand without a care
lucious green remains all year
as Autumn trees undress with tear
Cooling breeze blows through the trees
children shuffle through the leaves
gum boots on and woolie warmers
Winter getting close just around the corner
Autumn chills us down just right
ready for the winter fright
of frost ice and snow we're told
think I prefer Autumn no where near as cold

Re: 10/8 The Time of Autumn
leaves all all round the trees so bare
that smell in the air that autumn is there
small children laughing and running around
as they jump and play in the leaves that softly hit the ground
sitting by window laughing at there joy
so much to smile about it seems with every girl and boy
time for scarf's and little gloves
hot chocolate sits in there cups with loves
as for me? curled up by my fire
enjoy what autumn brings with desire
curled up by the fire on my favourite rug
waiting for Mr right to join me with a hug
that smell in the air that autumn is there
small children laughing and running around
as they jump and play in the leaves that softly hit the ground
sitting by window laughing at there joy
so much to smile about it seems with every girl and boy
