Blogging 101

In our recent Newsletter, I told you it is now possible to have a blog. I'll be the first so you can see how it might look. You can decide if blogging is right for you . . ..

So what does the word blog mean? Blogging began back in the 1990's and was originally called weblogs or web logs.

What is blogging? It's writing about anything that matters to you, whether it be the weather of the day, or perhaps sharing some big, important event effecting you. The sky is the limit. Topics can be fun, serious, or of a reflective nature.

Why blog? If you have something to say, blogging is a way of sharing yourself with many people. As writers, blogging is sometimes used as an escape from writers block, as free writing is therapeutic. Readers enjoy a good, thought out blog - one where the blogger is interesting and sharing new ideas; especially if the topic is relevant to them.

Blog layout: Reverse Chronological Order Our blogs will show the last entry first. This is good news for those times when events you blog about play out over several days, weeks, or months. I could be blogging about my house project, but you'd soon get bored:-) Highlighting certain events might be a better way for me to go.

Time stamped: Each entry will carry a time stamp right at the top. This way readers can scan right through your entries and know exactly the time frame.

Well, that about does it for the very basics of blogging. If you'd be interesting in setting a blog up in your forum, let me know. Might be a curious way for us to get to know each other a little better. You can have your blog public, like this one. Inhouse, meaning only members can read and comment in it. Private, for your eyes only.
