Life and a Tree

Life and a tree
The light shifted through the trees,
Glints of sun among branches, dense,
Wind making them sway throughout the day,
None of them falling to get in the way.
The sun shone upon the trunk to show the creases of its life,
The way it had grown, the life it had lead,
This is the way of the tree from day to day,
The trunk never sways as it is sunk into the soil,
The branches sway and break sometimes upon the wind and its way.
The leaf fluttering as the wind blows, sun sets and light goes,
All that can be heard is the branches being controlled by the night wind,
Leaves’ dropping as rain falls, upon them, drip dripping in the moonlit sky,
The moon itself so very high,
Another day dawns and the leaves are wet,
The tree is safe and ...yet
