Dear mum
I’m sorry to have to say
But I met my fate this very day
On Flanders Field I will have to stay
Along with my brothers I will fade away


Dear Dad
Please don’t feel sad
It was really not all that bad
I was just remembering all I had
I never seen it come, please don’t be mad


Dear Kate
Please dry those tears
I’ve left you with your fears
Denied you of our future years
My search for glory and words from peers


Hey there Timmy
Sorry I can’t tuck you in
What do I tell you and where to begin
Time for your story books to go in the bin
For you are the man now find strength from within


Hi there mate
I’m so sorry I’m late
But today I went to meet my fate
My body leys mangled in such a state
You see I was blown to hell at heavens gate


See you lads
I hope you get home
With Flanders dead you have to roam
Keep those bayonets glistening like chrome
And I will wait for you all under heavens dome


Thank you lord
For giving me time
To say goodbye to all that’s mine
Now I’m yours and awaiting your singe
To take me with you, to those stars that shine
