thank god for the dog

Thank God for the Dog
He walks his dog it is all he can do
When he gets home he cannot enjoy the view
His wife says hello and he looks and thinks who are you?
The dog just sits down.
He walks into the house and doesn’t know where to sit
So she takes him by the hand and moves him a bit
But she wants him back in body and mind
The dog just wags his tail.
Some days he is lucid some he is not there
She looks at him and oh how she cares
So many years together they spent,
It’s just a way that he is now spent.
So much in his mind but now put away
He goes through each and every day,
Taking the dog and hoping he doesn’t lose his way
Thank god for the dog.
