Song-Gift

A love song sung to the beat of a heart,
the warmth of a voice not troubled by life,
assuring another they’d never part,
centered and grounded not torn up by strife,

as calm and self-assured the singer sings
the song-gift from one heart to another.
One heart’s recall of when they first met brings
tears of joy, an oxymoron to ponder.

Love, it seems, lubricates a spinning world,
making it, at least for a little while,
a part of eternity, eons twirled
together with our beating hearts and smiles.

Home grown and raised, I’m yet a country boy,
thinking much of honor and honesty
and how they both work. And Love? I enjoy
it when I sing songs of Love’s modesty.

Thank you both so very much.

This is the first positive looking piece I've been able to manage in weeks. My wife was relieved to read a "nice" poem for a change. She reads my finished poems and is my first responder, so to speak.
