For What It’s Worth Empty For What It’s Worth

Post  mikeschultz Mon Feb 20 2012, 19:48

Born a few hundred years or more ago,
Enlivened by a lone potter’s touches,
In perfect union of form and function,
A porcelain bowl holds a jug such as
Held water for washing, sanitation
And other raw necessities. I know

It’s not terribly expensive, worth just
A few hundred dollars or more maybe,
To a collector. For some odd reason,
Though, it is worth a small fortune to me,
That little white water jug and basin.
The potter and kiln have fallen to dust,

While a windmill in oriental blue
Is sketched beneath the glazed ceramic hue.

Thank you, Lucie. You are so right about that. It's the small things, the old things that I hold to most dearly. Thanks for reading, and thank you for your appreciations. Mike
