As Seagulls Empty As Seagulls

Woven in a tapestry of timelines,
eons of years in passing through but once
to pile up in the flotsam’s frothy foam,
seagulls search for morsels on which they pounce,
and footprints in the sand so far from home
speak of the few souls who walk the shorelines.

Tapestries as old as humanity,
interwoven, thought with serenity.

Thinking through time and space of their absence,
how our lives would change from what we now know,
if we were as the seagulls, fluttering
and squawking, making a big fuss for show.
Our reputations as unflattering –
we are raucous and quick to give offense.
