On Getting Older Empty On Getting Older

The older we get the more
Funerals we attend, which makes us
Enjoy the weddings and births
All the more. Celebrating the holidays,

We find the year’s mile stones
Set in festive fare,
So what if we’ve little enough to celebrate?
Can we for the sake of others?

A measured standard of old age
Is the degree of serenity needed to accept
The things one cannot change,
Or so I’ve heard.

Sounds reasonable.
But so often I don’t feel so accepting.
