What positive notion might I worry,
As a dog might a delicious bone?
What words will I seek to bury
So deep in the mind and heart of me,
The passages gleaned as I strove,
As I work for the marrow so tasty?

Milton, Melville, and Walter Mitty
Sitting down to a dinner at home –
A roast of beef on the bone. Crispy,
Crusted skin covered meat so juicy
And sweet it melted on your tongue,
As the words of Ms Atwood’s poetry.

New England farm fare variety
Finds voice in a soup of stone
And in our good fences, you see.
And over dessert and whiskey,
Each speaking in an earnest tone,
We extol the many virtues of poetry
And write in verse what we’ve seen.
