Pain and sorrow, our constant companions,
Borne to be the counterweight of all life,
The offset of our love’s revelations.

What more may I hope to ask of days rife
With tales and with the retellings of tales?
Borne to be the counterweight of my life,

I’m made more humble by all life entails,
Its pains and sorrows and its many joys.
With tales and with the retellings of tales

I stand to the world as hobbledehoys,
Gawky youths, uncertain what lends each day
Its pains and sorrows and its many joys.

Painful suffering, guilty pleasure, pray
For total and complete redemption for
Gawky youths, uncertain what lends each day

The hope of a different day, not more
Pain and sorrow, our constant companions,
For total and complete redemption, for
The offset of true love’s revelations.
