Pantoum Empty Pantoum

The French adaptation of a Malayan poetic form, the pantun,
A form with which to unfold a memory of a far simpler time,
And rapt in the music inherent in forms with refrains, the tune
Carries its dreamy and enchanting dual repetition of each line.

A form with which to unfold a memory of a far simpler time,
It’s a kind of rubric to an epiphany’s brief revelation, as a rune
Carries its dreamy and enchanting dual repetition of each line,
An intuitive flash, as a sparkler fizzles, going out far too soon.

It’s a kind of rubric to an epiphany’s brief revelation, as a rune
Helps to divine order from chaos, to write of reason and rhyme,
An intuitive flash, as a sparkler fizzles, going out far too soon,
With no candle to light the darkness, and no stars above to shine.

Helps to divine order from chaos, to write of reason and rhyme,
These are the promises of the Rhetorical art of writing in a room
With no candle to light the darkness, and no stars above to shine
To brighten the windows through which I gaze out at the gloom.

These are the promises of the Rhetorical art of writing in a room
And rapt in the music inherent in forms with refrains, the tune
To brighten the windows through which I gaze out at the gloom,
At the French adaptation of a Malayan poetic form, the pantun.
