The Picture and The Pitcher

The Picture and the Pitcher
You lay in bed body straight out and gradually you fall asleep,
The body moves and your mind changes you are on a raft in a pool,
A glass pitcher is there it is full of lemonade and a bun beside it as
You drift in the pool,
The leg moves and you are in a room, the pitcher is there full of cream,
You move around the room wondering why you are there.
Your body turns to the left, the picture changes and you are in a room with your aunt,
A plate of food in front of you looks good but you do not eat you listen,
She wants to know all that was said but you are a friend of the other person and you stay there,
Mouth shut as your leg moves, and your raft is back and you drift into another field of sleep.
The night goes on you drift upon the raft, or move across a sea the pitcher is always there,
Full of this or that, different colours different places, then you move over you hear someone breathing beside you, and you know you are awake.
You do not open your eyes; you glide from one room to another, pitcher in hand,
It is red and full and you drink from it, straight away you are floating on the air,
And you wonder where you are going to, are you waking up or are you drifting from life,
You blink your eyes and look around the room, no pitcher of lemonade,
But the picture has changed and you are on a lawn, grass surrounds you and your pitcher is there,
The picture has changed and you wander across the open expanse wondering what t all means,
As you begin to wonder you hear the alarm and the pitcher has gone, so has the picture,
You are awake and blinking and alone in the bed staring at the ceiling again.
