Worries Which Trouble Me
Worries Which Trouble Me
Candles flicker in the low light
Sunlight strains to pass through
Stained glass windows to brighten
The gloom within this large room
A single aisle with pews either side
Leads to a long table on which stands
A large Golden Cross for all to see.
Inside the room it feels cold and musky
A thin mist of dust hangs on the air
Caught on the fingers of light and
Hovering on the cold dank air
I look to see that I am alone
Inside this small Church in Wales
Left to reflect upon the torment and
Darkness inside my mind.
There is quietness all around
Albeit the sound soft tones of a Choir
Coming from speakers hidden within these walls.
With a sad heart I listen to their singing
Their Angelic voices that reach my ears
As I sit here alone on this Pew
I wonder why do we get hurt
For why do we love so badly
Why do we say we shall love
And promise to remain true for life
Why do others wish to steal that love
Could they not find someone else
How will I cope when that love is lost
When ones heart is broken and sadness
Settles in, where do we find comfort
Can it be in the darkest regions of our mind?
A romance once found on a Holiday camp
A first kiss upon a train which is small
Continued when we met again in a bar
A Wimpey in Camden town
It now ends here inside this church
On hot and stuffy Bank Holiday day.
Will I ever love again I ask myself
Will time heal my aching heart
The answer is still at large
For I have never loved like I did before
So now I get away and try to be free
Of the worries which trouble me.

Re: Worries Which Trouble Me
Sue, it was a small church on the road close to Welshpool. I remember the day was hot and I had been driving for hours. Because it was bank holiday weekend all the hotels were booked so we had to sleep in the car. We drove to a garden centre in Welshpool that had a restaurant. While we were there a member of their staff saw I was not well. For the first time in my life I met someone who was a Samaritan, this woman took us back to her house , fed us and put me into bed to rest and sleep it was truly amazing someone could do this, never have ever said a bad word against the Welsh.
