Derelict
Standing on a lonely country railway station
A million bright ambassadors of morning...
Come settling all around
Sounds of Furry animals and bird song
Drift into my ears
The smell of sweet Blossom
Hangs heavily in the morning air

The deserted platforms
Remembers Ghosts of travellers, in abundance
A sign hangs from the canopy roof
Its rusty squeak breaks the silence
The station cat sits and washes his face
A foxy fox crosses the track some distance up the line

Derelict buildings stand broken and decaying
Once they stood proud and clean
Tenderly cared for by staff
I sit on a broken wooden bench to await a train
That’s not going to be late
In the distance I hear
The sound of an approaching train
I stand up to await its arrival with camera in hand
Closer the train comes the louder it sounds
With a tremendous rush of wind and noise

The train hurtles through the station
For now the trains do not stop here any more
A distant memory of a time gone by.
But for today a picture was what I wanted
