WHAT MAKES ME TICK ? Empty WHAT MAKES ME TICK ?

Post  Dori Fri Sep 02 2011, 10:13

I'm guessing you want beside my heart as good as it does the job...........OK
Well let me see, I was born October 7,1960, my parents (though I don't know WHY ) named me Doreen (ugh) Lucille Maschke (well Maschke because of course it's our last name.
Through my dad's side I am Scottish, Irish <---(my Grandpa), German and Dutch (Grandma) and on my mother's side I am German and French.
I am kinda sort of the middle child, depending how you look at it, through my mom I'm second to the last having 2 older sisters (the oldest sister being adopted out) and 1 younger sister, through my dad, I am the middle child.

At the ripe old age of 4 - 4 1/2 my parents packed up my sisters and I to move down to Gainsville Florida, I started school at age 6 back then from what I was told the parents had to pay $10.00 a month for their child(ren) to be in kindergarden.
The first school I went to was just a single story, the second school was a 3 story school, it seemed like all the grades 1st though 12th were in that school.
When we got to school all the children went into the basement for a BIG breakfast, then we went to our classrooms, even then I seem to make friends easily.
We had moved 3 times it was the third time that I went to the bigger school, gosh I remember that house (as well as the others) well, it was white with an orange front door, on the corner of Terrance and 49th street, it was a deadend dirt road then.
the fun we had, we were able to play in the middle of the road or we would catch lighting bugs putting then Mason Jars, but like all good things......that had to ended, at age 7 yrs old my parents once again packed us all up and started make our way to Michigan, it was on our way home that we stopped at a gas station to fill up and use the tiny girls room, gosh how I hated that toilet room, I was taught to lock the door so no one would walkin on me........well the lock was good at it's job, only trouble is, not only did it keep people out it kept scared little girls in ! Till this day I HATE to be locked in tiny areas.
When we got to Michigan, we moved in with friends of my parents, now that was fun, there was a big old Walnut tree that fell years ago, we would climb up on that tree as high as we could go (back then I was part monkey) lol, I would climb high just like the (very cute) boys, when school started, we attended a 2 room school house, that was weird, it seemed like we were always moving from one place to another from one town to another.
Going from one school to another, it seemed like I never was able to have good friends here in Michigan, I always asked to go back home to Florida, but we never went back.
It was when I was 14 that we stayed in one place, and that's when I started to write poetry, it seemed so easy then, by the time I was 16 I had a notebook full of my poems that my mother threw away thinking that they were junk, I had to start all over again trying to remember my poetry.
Through the year as I would write I got put down by my mother saying I could make anything of myself writing words on paper.
I grew and moved out had children of my own, still I would write about my children, I wrote about my grandchildren, and what ever came to mind, I'd go for walks write about what I seen or heard.
The way I see it, everything you see, feel, taste and hear is poetry, peotry to me is just your thoughts on paper, how you feel at the moment.
How you feel about the one you are with husband or wife, I write what I know what I feel, what my deepest wish is, how would it to be forever in love and spending the rest of my life with that one man....
This is not the end of my story for I have adventures to seek, until then I shall go on, to live and learn and write what makes me tick.

Sorry for being so long lol
