Dearest Mum

My dearest mum, some sad goodbyes,
were said when we first left
but we both knew, that miles apart
we would stay in each others hearts

You were my mum and I your son
Australia could not divide
The love I felt, also pride
so deep and true inside

Now we have to say goodbyes
of a different and sadder nature
as you pass on to a better life
to our God, your loving creator

Twelve years later our sad goodbyes
are said from a greater distance
your cheery smile, heart of gold
now left in a memory, for us to hold

You've blessed this land
with love and strength
cared for so many people
they pulled on strength, that you had stored
which sadly, made your health weaker

I treasure all that you taught me
how you showed me right from wrong
the love that you showed all through my life
the morals that helped keep me strong

Love you mum and always will
this day my heart is breaking
may god bless you and keep you safe
as the angels softly brace you

Again I say god bless you mum
until we meet again
there is a place deep in my heart
that will never be the same !
