The Cardinal

The Cardinal waits,
He stands in line
As the little Finch
Takes his time.
Picking up seeds
Here and there.
Then scattering them
Everywhere!
The Cardinal is so bright
And red as he gathers
Food for his mate
To be fed.
He waits on her
In every way.
So that she can
Prepare her nest each day.
What beauty stands
Before my eyes
As I watch
The Cardinal
In such surprise!
